Who qualifies
You need a school email from an accredited college or university listed in the World Higher Education Database — K-12 schools aren't eligible, and Notion doesn't accept student IDs or other documents as a substitute for a school email.
How to claim
- Sign in to Notion with your school email address.
- Open Settings, then Upgrade plan.
- Select Get free education plan — if your school is recognized, the upgrade applies immediately.
- If your domain isn't recognized yet but your school is accredited, contact Notion support to have it added.
The catch
The free tier is Plus, not the full AI add-on — Notion AI still costs extra, though students get it at half price for the first 12 months. And the free plan is tied to your school email staying active, so it can lapse after you graduate.
